A mouthguard is the last barrier between an impact and a broken tooth — or worse, a fractured jaw. Yet it is often the first piece of protection forgotten. Mandatory in competition across all federations, strongly recommended from the first sparring session. Swiss shipping via DPD, delivery in 2 to 3 working days.
RDXSports.ch is the official RDX Sports store for Switzerland. Authentic model, Swiss warranty, support in EN/FR/DE.
The available model: RDX 3W Mouth Guard
RDX 3W Mouth Guard — boil and bite mouthguard with double thickness, OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified. Double layer on upper and lower teeth, shock absorption front and lateral. Includes hygienic storage case.
Why the boil-and-bite fit matters
- Before moulding
- Generic fit that does not sit well, can restrict breathing and causes constant jaw tension. You end up spitting it out or removing it between rounds.
- After moulding
- Mouthguard fitted exactly to your teeth: stays in place without pressure, breathing unobstructed, absorbs impacts at the right spot. You forget it is there — that is the point.
How to mould your 3W Mouth Guard
- Heat water to 90°C (do not boil).
- Submerge the mouthguard for 30 seconds, remove with a spoon.
- Let cool for 3-4 seconds (avoid burning yourself).
- Place in your mouth, bite firmly, press fingers against cheeks for 20 seconds.
- Plunge into cold water to set the mould.
- If the result is unsatisfactory, repeat (the material withstands 2-3 mouldins).
Boil-and-bite vs custom dental mouthguard
- Boil-and-bite (RDX 3W)
- Home moulding in 5 minutes, good fit for 90% of practitioners. Sufficient for club sparring and amateur competition. Minimal cost, easy to replace.
- Custom dental mouthguard
- Perfect fit, maximum comfort, significantly higher cost. Reserved for professional athletes or practitioners with unusual dental morphology.

Frequently asked questions
- Is a double mouthguard necessary?
- In contact sparring, the double (protecting both upper and lower) is recommended: an uppercut impact can slam the lower teeth into the upper. The 3W covers both. In competition, some federations only allow the single (upper only) — check the rules.
- How long does an RDX 3W mouthguard last?
- 6 to 18 months depending on use. Replace as soon as you notice deformation, tearing or the mould no longer fits well. For 3x/week sparring, plan for annual replacement.
- Do you need a special mouthguard with braces?
- Yes. With fixed braces, you need a specific orthodontic mouthguard (thicker, covers the brackets). Consult your orthodontist before choosing a model.
- How do you clean a mouthguard?
- Rinse with cold water after every session (never hot water — it deforms the mould). Disinfect once a week with an antiseptic mouthguard solution. Store in the case provided, away from heat.
- What is the most common buying mistake?
- Choosing a single mouthguard (upper only) to avoid breathing restriction, then taking an uppercut and ending up with broken lower teeth. The 3W double layer is less obstructive than a badly fitting cheap single — the difference is in the moulding, not the thickness. Tip: if the mouthguard is uncomfortable after moulding, remould it — it is rarely the product, it is the technique.
At minimal cost, protect teeth worth far more. The RDX 3W below — boil and bite, double thickness, OEKO-TEX® certified.
