Sparring Boxing Gloves – RDX Sports Switzerland
Sparring: protecting your partner is just as important as your own progression. RDX sparring gloves combine soft, well-distributed padding to absorb impact on the receiving side without sacrificing punch feel. Essential from 2 sparring sessions per week. Swiss shipping via DPD, 2 to 3 working days.
RDXSports.ch is the official RDX Sports store for Switzerland. Authentic models, Swiss warranty, support in EN/FR/DE.
Which sparring gloves for which level?
- Occasional sparring / amateur club → F4 Sparring Hook & Loop — accessible padding, 4 colours, the right first choice.
- Regular sparring (2–3x/week) → Aura Plus T-17 — T-17 padding system, excellent value.
- Intensive sparring / competitor → L2 Mark Pro Sparring or L1 Mark Pro — genuine leather, multi-density foam, high-end.
- Pro-style lace-up → APEX Lace-up — maximum wrist support, like in professional competition.
- APEX velcro → APEX Hook & Loop — same quality, quick closure.
What weight for sparring?
Golden rule: heavier than your training gloves. The goal is not to hit harder but to better distribute the impact to protect your partner.
- 14 oz
- Standard for under 75 kg. The minimum in most Swiss clubs.
- 16 oz
- Universal sparring standard. 75 to 90 kg, or all builds in clubs requiring maximum safety.
- 18 oz
- Over 90 kg, or heavy sparring / heavyweight.
Many Swiss clubs require a minimum of 16oz in sparring regardless of build. Check with your coach before buying.

Frequently asked questions
- Concrete difference between sparring and training gloves?
- The padding. Sparring gloves have softer, better-distributed foam on the striking surface. For the puncher the feel is comparable; for the receiver the difference is significant over time.
- Lace-up or velcro for sparring?
- Velcro dominant in sparring: quick between rounds, adjustable alone. Lace-up = more precise wrist support, preferred by pros, requires a partner to close properly.
- My club requires 16oz, I weigh 70 kg. Is it useful?
- Yes. 16oz is not to protect you more but to better protect your partner. More foam = better-distributed impact = less KO/cut/concussion risk. A safety rule, not a build question.
- Do I need a dedicated pair if I already have training gloves?
- From 2 sparrings/week, a dedicated pair pays off quickly: longer lifespan, better partner protection, training gloves not saturated with sparring sweat.
- How long do sparring gloves last?
- With hand wraps and drying between sessions: 12 to 24 months for 2–3x/week use. The soft foam wears faster than training gloves — that is inherent to the function.
