Which model for which federation?

  • Amateur boxing (Swiss Boxing, IBA) → AS1 Amateur or AS2 — red/blue colours mandatory, IBA-standard padding. The standard choice for amateur competition in Switzerland.
  • WAKO kickboxing & Muay Thai → T1 WAKO Black, Blue or Red — officially WAKO approved. Valid in international competition. Black accepted in training; blue or red for regulation corners.
  • Pro / elite boxing (Velcro) → K2 Mark Pro Fight — cowhide leather, Ergo-Grip, Quad-Stitched. Competition finish with the convenience of Velcro.
  • Pro / elite boxing (lace-up) → K1 Mark Pro Fight — same premium construction, laces for maximum wrist support. The glove of the big fight nights.
  • Affordable pro lace-ups → APEX Competition Lace-up or PF APEX Lace-up — maximum wrist lockdown, professional format, more affordable than the Mark Pro.

Which weight for your category?

The weight is set by the federation. Always check the rules of your event, but as a general rule:

8 oz
Lighter pro boxing, kickboxing under 60 kg, some elite categories.
10 oz
Amateur boxing up to 64 kg, kickboxing 60–75 kg. The most common in amateur competition.
12 oz
Amateur boxing 64–91 kg, standard kickboxing and Muay Thai.
14 oz
Amateur heavyweights (>91 kg), some Muay Thai formats.

Important: the federation may require new or good-condition gloves at the weigh-in. Plan for 2 pairs if you fight several times a year.

Frequently asked questions

Which gloves for amateur competition in Switzerland?
AS1, AS2 and Mark Pro K1/K2 meet Swiss Boxing standards. Check the required weight (generally 10oz under 64 kg, 12oz above) and the regulation colours (red/blue) with the organiser before buying.
Are the T1 WAKO gloves really approved?
Yes. Official WAKO logo, valid worldwide in WAKO-sanctioned kickboxing and Muay Thai competition. The list of approved equipment is publicly available on the official WAKO website.
Laces or Velcro in competition?
Velcro is widely accepted and more practical at amateur level. Laces = the norm in pro boxing and big fight nights: better wrist support, tighter fit.
Can I train with my competition gloves?
Strongly discouraged. The firm padding is calibrated for short rounds — hundreds of hours on the bag risk micro-injuries to the joints. Keep them for official bouts.
Do my gloves have to be new at the weigh-in?
Not new, but in good condition: no compressed foam, no loose stitching, intact lining. Officials can reject gloves they consider worn. Replace them after ~10 fights.
Difference between the K1 and K2 Mark Pro?
K1 = laces, maximum wrist support, the pros' choice for fight nights. K2 = Velcro, same premium construction (cowhide leather, Ergo-Grip, Quad-Stitched), can be put on by yourself.
Difference between the APEX Lace-up and the Mark Pro K1?
Mark Pro K1 = aged cowhide leather, multi-layer Ergo-Grip, Quad-Stitched — the toughest construction. APEX Lace-up = the same lace-up format at a more affordable price, ideal for amateur competitors.
