Which model for which federation?

  • Amateur boxing (Swiss Boxing, IBA) → AS1 Amateur or AS2 — mandatory red/blue colours, IBA-standard padding. The standard choice for amateur competition in Switzerland.
  • Kickboxing & Muay Thai WAKO → T1 WAKO Black, Blue or Red — officially WAKO approved. Valid in international competition. Black accepted in training; blue or red for regulation corners.
  • Professional boxing / elite (velcro) → K2 Mark Pro Fight — cowhide leather, Ergo-Grip, Quad-Stitched. Competition finish with velcro convenience.
  • Professional boxing / elite (lace-up) → K1 Mark Pro Fight — same premium construction, lace-up for maximum wrist support. The glove of major gala events.

What weight for your category?

Weight is set by your federation. Always check your event rules, but as a general guide:

8 oz
Light professional boxing, kickboxing under 60 kg, certain elite categories.
10 oz
Amateur boxing up to 64 kg, kickboxing 60–75 kg. The most common weight in amateur competition.
12 oz
Amateur boxing 64–91 kg, standard kickboxing and Muay Thai.
14 oz
Amateur heavyweight (>91 kg), certain Muay Thai formats.

Important: the federation may require new or good-condition gloves at weigh-in. Plan 2 pairs if you compete several times a year.

Which gloves for amateur competition in Switzerland?
AS1, AS2 and Mark Pro K1/K2 meet Swiss Boxing standards. Check required weight (10oz under 64 kg, 12oz above) and regulation colours (red/blue) with the organiser before buying.
Are the T1 WAKO really approved?
Yes. Official WAKO logo, valid worldwide at WAKO-sanctioned kickboxing and Muay Thai competitions. Approved equipment list publicly available on the WAKO website.
Lace-up or velcro in competition?
Velcro widely accepted and more practical at amateur level. Lace-up = norm in professional and gala events: better wrist support, tighter fit.
Can I train with my competition gloves?
Strongly not recommended. Firm padding calibrated for short rounds — hundreds of hours on the bag risk long-term joint micro-damage. Keep them for official fights.
Do my gloves need to be new at weigh-in?
Not new, but in good condition: no compressed foam, no broken stitching, intact interior. Inspectors can reject worn gloves. Replace after ~10 fights.
Difference between K1 and K2 Mark Pro?
K1 = lace-up, maximum wrist support, the pro choice for galas. K2 = velcro, same premium construction (cowhide, Ergo-Grip, Quad-Stitched), self-fitting.
Difference between APEX Lace-up and Mark Pro K1?
Mark Pro K1 = aged cowhide, multi-layer Ergo-Grip, Quad-Stitched — the most solid construction. APEX Lace-up = same lace-up format at a more accessible price, ideal for amateur competitors.
