The pro boxer's favourite tool for developing timing, speed and accuracy. The double-end bag (also called a floor-to-ceiling ball) is suspended between ceiling and floor by two elastic cords: it comes back at you after every punch, forcing you to chain slips, repositioning and counters. Not an alternative to the heavy bag, but the complement that makes the difference between hitting and boxing. Shipped across Switzerland via DPD, delivered in 2 to 3 working days.
RDXSports.ch is the official RDX Sports store for Switzerland. Authentic models, Swiss warranty, support in FR/DE/EN.
The two models available
Versatile & compact → RDX U3 Floor to Ceiling Ball — standard synthetic ball, the right first choice to discover the exercise. Diameter matched to a human head to simulate a realistic target.
Premium Maya Hide Leather finish → RDX KARA F6 Double End Punching Bag — high-end synthetic leather from the F6 KARA range, a more authentic punching feel, greater durability for regular use.
Why a double-end bag changes your boxing
Unlike the heavy bag, which doesn't hit back, the double-end bag comes back — and fast. It forces three skills that nothing else trains as well:
Timing
You have to punch at the right moment, neither too early (you miss) nor too late (you take the rebound in the face). It calibrates your rhythm like a real fight.
Reflex evasion
The ball comes back at you: slip, duck, lateral movement. You develop defensive reflexes with no physical risk.
Accuracy & hand speed
A small, moving target: it forces the jab to be straight and the cross to be fast. Excellent for correcting an inaccurate punch.
Hand-eye coordination
Constant visual tracking required. Neurological work at a higher intensity than a fixed bag.
Sport-specific endurance
High pace with no breaks: 3 rounds on the double-end are equivalent in cardio intensity to 6 rounds on the heavy bag.
Installation and adjustment
Installation is simple but requires two anchor points — one on the ceiling, one on the floor:
Ceiling — fixed to a load-bearing beam or a swivel hook screwed into concrete / solid wood (low dynamic load, but lateral swinging).
Floor — fixed to a concrete slab (heavy-duty anchor) or a mobile weighted base (sandbag, weight plate).
Height — the ball should be at face height in your guard position, i.e. around ~155-170 cm depending on your height.
Cord tension — the tighter the cord, the faster the rebound (= harder). Start with less tension and increase gradually.
Beginner's tip: if the ball comes back too fast and frustrates you, loosen the lower cord by 5 cm. The learning curve should be comfortable, not punishing.
Double-end bag vs speed ball vs maize bag
Double-end bag (this page) — vertical & lateral movement, simulates a moving human target. For timing and fight reflexes.
Speed ball — fast rebound against a platform. For rhythm, hand speed and shoulder endurance.
Maize bag — free pendulum swing, slower. For head movement and slipping.
All three complement each other. If you have to choose just one, the double-end bag offers the best benefit-to-time ratio for an intermediate boxer.

Complete your training setup
Training gloves — 12-14oz, suited to repetitive work on the ball.
It is better suited to intermediate level (after 6 months of practice). Beginners are better off mastering the heavy bag and shadow boxing first. That said, nothing stops you using it early with low cord tension: you learn to aim, which is always useful.
How long per session?
3 to 5 rounds of 2 minutes at the end of the session (after the heavy bag) are enough. The cardio intensity is very high — don't do it at the start of a session or you'll be drained for the rest.
Standard U3 or premium KARA F6?
The U3 (classic synthetic) covers 90% of needs and is durable. The KARA F6 (Maya Hide Leather) offers a more premium finish, a more authentic punching feel, and holds up better over time with use 4-5x/week. First purchase → U3. Upgrade or intensive use → KARA F6.
Do I need a concrete floor to install it?
Preferable but not essential. A mobile weighted base (25 kg sandbag, weight plate) also works and lets you move the setup. Avoid fixing it into floating parquet or thin tiles, which won't withstand the repeated pulling.
Can the ball burst?
Very rare with RDX ranges (the vinyl / synthetic leather withstands several years of punching). The wear parts are the elastic cords (replace every 12-18 months with regular use) and the fixings, not the ball itself.
How long does an RDX double-end bag last?
4 to 8 years for the ball. The elastic cords are replaced regularly (consumables). The outer shell withstands repeated punching — the KARA F6 lasts significantly longer than the U3 with daily use.
The secret to boxing, not just hitting. 2 models below, from the standard U3 to the premium KARA F6.
